0 Stairway to Heaven.

We have been eager to do this hike since we arrived in hawaii. And now we can finally say that we have checked off our bucket list. We woke up really early so we could sneak past the guard. (we are such rebels) we hiked through some bamboo trees, walked under the highway, and started walking climbing those 3,922 stairs.

It was around 2:30 in the A.M. so we didn't really notice how misty and moist it was until we got to the top. Our group bundled all together by the pillbox and we just talked story for a few hours to wait for the sunrise. We were so excited to hike back down and see the sun over the whole half of the island.

Well, thats when the moisture kicked in. It was so foggy we didn't get to see the whole valley. I was so disappointed, but looking back, it's certainly a blessing it ended up that way. We were so far up I know for a fact I would of had an anxiety attack looking down. We were literally on the cliffs and edges of the mountain, and only holding on by a rod. Which, by the way, were built back in WWII. (now you know why there is a guard to sneak past-dangerous!)

At the end of the hike, I could not stop taking pictures. The view, even though it was foggy, was breathtaking! I can't even imagine how it would of been if it were clear. Colten and I took our time hiking down so we could soak up every view. We absolutely loved it, but it is a for sure once-in-a-lifetime hike. (we like our sleep). Coolest hike yet.
- Hawaii, you just keep surprising me!
