1 lazy and loving it.

Since we have been back to the island I haven't been able to find a job. I mean, who wants to hire someone for six weeks? So, I just decided to quit looking and just enjoy our last few weeks on the island. I am one of those people that can easily entertain myself. My mom always told me that I would go into my room and play FOR HOURS by myself. I never get bored.

I've been riding my bike a lot, watching endless hours of tv shows with Colten, and working out. I'm taking full advantage of this precious time. I've realized that this is probably going to be the only time in my life that I will be able to do this.

Just the two of us, in our tiny apartment, on a tiny island, with only each other. We have no bills, no debt that needs to be paid off, and nothing to worry about but how to get money for our next meal. Some people think that I'm just lazy, (or crazy) but I'm tired of stressing over things I can't control. I figure, mind as well just enjoy.the.journey.

We woke up this morning with the intent to go to Waimea Beach to have a bbq with our friends. Play in the ocean with our boards, do some rock climbing and such. But it has been raining all day and night. So we decided to just stay in bed and be lazy. I'm not going to complain and worry about things that I just can't control.

I love mornings like these. No school, no work, rain outside our windows. (warm rain) I'm going to continue to capture these precious moments with my love. I know it's going to come to an end in a month. It's going to be time to grow up (do I have to?) get a job, get an apartment/house, etc.

I'm excited for our next chapter, but I'm in no rush to end our last chapter here in Hawaii.

0 I went on a cruise

I finally went and got myself a bike!! Not just any bike, but a beach cruiser bike! I am totally in love. I keep making Coco go on walks so I can ride my bike beside him. He thinks I'm a dork, but nobody has a bike to ride with me yet. I just want to ride it all the time. We had to drive to Honolulu to get my bike, which is at least a 4 hour trip because once you hit the city, you have to do all your errands that you can't do everyday.

We are in the process of selling our car, so we were renting one and we had a misunderstanding with the car company and we were late. They called us like seven times thinking we were stealing the car, it was great. Coco of course started getting all flustered and wanted to get home asap, and I just didn't care and wanted to finish my errands. It wasn't my fault they messed up on the times?! We had a good laugh about it on the way home. But it wasn't funny because it limited my time in town. I'm just happy I had time to get my bike!!

0 Rum House

We decided to venture out and try this restaurant here called "The Rum House". It is not the normal NOLA food, it's Caribbean, and it's so yum!! We really loved it. We orders nachos, which you could share with a whole table easily. I'm surprised we ate the whole thing (don't judge) plus three tacos. I ordered the steak taco, and I ended up eating a rib taco that Colten ordered. I just started eating once our waitress gave us our food. I didn't know what taco was who's and ended up just eating Coltens. oops. I guess he'll have to try it next time we go! It was really fun to go out after a long week of working. I always enjoy spending date nights with the most handsome guy around.

2 Fort Smith

I think it's time I write about our new adventure and how things have been going. First of all, we live in a little town called "Fort Smith" in Arkansas. I simply love it! It is the cutest town ever. There are antique shops around every corner, the southern accents are really getting to me, and it has been SO nice to have a walmart and hobby lobby just across the street. I feel extremely spoiled for that!

Colten is doing awesome with summer sales. He has sold a good amount these last two weeks. I am so proud of him.(I would never want to do his job, but he does it well.) We have been spoiled by our hotel who provides gym passes to us to this amazing gym down the road. It seriously has everything and anything. All of us go together most days. (all the couples here, that is.)

Sundays can be a little boring. They are killer at times! nothing to do, living in a hotel, no family around...yes a killer. Mothers day was yesterday! At church this girl got up and sang the most beautiful song about mothers and their child's relationship. I may or may not of got up toward the end and pretended like I had to go to the bathroom, just so I could let out a few tears. (hate crying in front of people) I miss my mama. everyday. But it has surprisingly been easier to move around now. This move was by far easier than my last move to Hawaii. It is almost refreshing to get out of my old town.

School has been keeping me busy. I only have a few more weeks and I'm excited for that! My lectures take forever to get through, but I am learning a lot and for the most part I enjoy it.

mothers day roses.

1 My boo

I love going to the beach with Colten. We don't get to go together that much, because when he is at school or golf, I go to the beach because I am so bored and nothing is more fun than the beach! We are busy getting ready for our next move to Lousiana. We have our tickets booked, and our apartment is rented and set for the next couple. It honestly is amazing how the Lord has his hands in our plan for life. He has been with us every step of the way, and I am so grateful. It gives me comfort knowing we are on the right path. I can feel him, and see him helping us with our plans, and how things have fallen into place.

It has been so nice to not work. Oh my goodness, so nice! I have woke up, worked out, and just gone with the flow each day. I love it. I feel like I am getting a lot of things accomplished because I actually have time to do things now. I go in tomorrow for my final hours. I wasn't suppose to, but Dr. Rosala wanted me to do a surgery with him because he "needs" someone who is trained already. I am too nice, and told him I would. hey, more money for me without the long hours.  I only go in the afternoon.

My family is coming in a few days. I can't even think about it because I get too excited! Its been 7 long months that I haven't seen them. It's about time for a Tarin reunion!

:: Colten getting swallowed by a wave::

the waves are so huge right now, so much fun!

We are at our favorite beach ::sunset beach::

I'm thinking I will get a hair cut this week.
It's getting soo long for some reason.
Could it be the Hawaiian sun?

Conference weekend was good! I always love watching our leaders speak their wisdom to the world

However...it was quite early this year with the time difference
good thing for the internet...right Colten:)

0 1 year folks

It is amazing how fast things change around here!

We have some updating to do.. so I will start by saying, I QUIT my job. whew. I cannot even explain how relieved I feel. Don't get me wrong, I was grateful for having a job that I enjoyed, and one where I only worked half the week and still made good money. But, I have to admit, it was so hard working for Koreans. oh boy. They work constantly, and it was constantly a mad house of a dental office. I just couldn't take the unorganizedness...(Yeah that's not a word, but you get it). I put in my two weeks...and these two weeks are the hardest two weeks. Because I know I am soo close to get out of there. I seriously go home with a headache everyday. Then try to go on a two hour bus ride with a headache. I guess the good thing about getting home late with a headache, is it's okay to go straight to bed.

I get a big break this weekend because I am heading out to Phoenix Arizona for one of Colten's golf tournaments. I will get to see my in-laws again too! I am so excited to see them again, and to have a weekend on the mainland! We have been waiting for the weekend for quite some time now.

Another thing... we are MOVING again, to Lousiana! We just decided like a week ago. And we are up and getting things set and stone. Our friends here go there to sale security systems, and Colten and I got thinking about it, and it could potentiall make some good money over the summer going with them to sale, so we are giving a shot. We will be returing to Hawaii in Septemeber, we just need to find someone to rent our apartment while we are away. We have to leave in exactly a month, and so it's been kinda crazy for me to not get stressed about how much we need to do before then. Colten will be done with the semester in a few weeks, so school wont be an issue. But it will be for me!!

yep thats right. I am going back to school. I got into BYU Hawaii, and I will be taking online classes over the summer. I can't believe I actually want to go back to school, but I feel good about the school here.  So everything seems to be coming up so fast!

Good news is, now that I quit my job, I will have a month to figure all this out, and to chill on the beaches while doing it. I feel so FREE again!

A good friend in our ward took some pictures for our 1 year anniversary! I can't believe its been a year already. We have had so many changes in this one year. I have grown so much, and I think Colten has too. I keep saying this, but it amazes me how marriage can change a person. Love can change a person. And I think once you get married (at least for me) you just start to finally realize what you want in life, and you have your partner to help you figure how to get it. I am grateful to have Colten here for me.

Here is a sneak peek. It got dark sooner than we thought, but I think they turned out cute.

1 joy

joy.

That is what I am feeling today. I woke up on the right side of the bed I guess. (literally... Colten pushed me over to the right side of the bed, and I hate it!! It is closer to the window and I was freezzzinnggg!) This morning I was rushed to go meet with the administration office to BYUH. It is offical...I have applied for school here. I've never been more excited about school. It's weird.

Colten is studying right now, that doesn't look fun, but he makes school look like a breeze. He seriously has only had a problem in Math class. Now that that is over with, he just does homework in 10 mins and is done. I LIKE IT!! looks like it was a good decision to switch majors for him, because he enjoys it better.

I then rushed off to the temple. I worked all afternoon. It was really fun today, I was paired up with this lady that reminds me of my Grandma Teresa. She looks almost exactly like her. She is super small, only goes up to my chest (can you even imagine someone shorter than me?) and she looks mexican, but she is hawaiian. She is funny like her too. She was making all kinds of remarks today that made me laugh. For one, she ate lunch too fast and was sitting down in every chair she could find close to her the rest of the afternoon, which is hard to do when you are working. But she made it possible. The funny part of that though, is she gave me MOST of her lunch! She packed for a person of two, and only ate her soup and gave me her salad, chips, celery, and chocolate. I didn't eat all of it, but she kept passing it to me.

She just made my day:)

At work my boss is finally changing things around! We will have two shifts per day now. I got to choose between the 7-2 morning shift or the 12-8 night shift. Of course I chose the morning shift, even though I will have to wake up at 4 in the morning to catch my bus, it will still be worth it to get home at 4:00 p.m. I miss my evening runs and my yoga. So YAY for changes at work!

Colten is coming up on his tournaments. This month he will have one at Turtle Bay. Next month he will be going to Arizona and California. Leaving me all alone. I'll miss snuggling him at night, but I do have alot of projects I need to get done around the house. Speaking of, I have changed my whole living room. It is full of decorations now. My table is full of crafts. Colten wasn't too happy with my spluge at the crafts store, but hey... I haven't been to the craft store since I've got to Hawaii. I had to make up for lost time, and future lost time because who knows when I  will be back on that side of the island.

Valentines day is coming so soon.
I'm waiting for my surprise for Colten in the mail.
Why does it take so long for mail to come to Hawaii?!

I have been surviving my bus rides with this lovely lady.
She is hilarious! There was an episode when Lucys mother-in-law came to town.
Her husband is Cuban so her mother-in-law only knew spanish.
It totally reminded me of my mom and grandma. It was so funny. I was laughing so hard on the bus.
Yes. I am one of the crazy people now on the bus who just laughs out loud and nobody knows why.
And I don't even care!

Next door neighbor..

superbowl sunday.
Not a fan of football, but the food is always something to party for!
I made a football pizza this year. I gotta say, I make a mean piece of pizza.

I find little notes like these all over my house.
It's always a nice surprise.
We have to give a talk on "Loving  your Spouse" on sunday. When we first got the topic I just laughed at the guy and said "really?" I feel so stupid talking to people who have been married longer than us, telling them to love their spouse better. I've learned a lot, and have researched some good tips. I'm not too nervous on speaking, but I am nervous on what Colten might say.
You never know with that kid.

8 months people!!

I can't believe that 8 months ago today, I was kneeling across the alter in the Manti Temple with my best friend. We have now know each other for 2 years and 4 months now. Who knew that July 17, 2009 would change my life forever.

It has always seemed interesting to me in the past, when I was dating around, how in just one moment you could meet someone and have an instant connection with them. If the connection was good,  you would start to talk often, and get together again, and then from that day forward it would be hard for you to imagine your life without them in it.

Relationships came and went for me. I never really got butterflies with any guy I would meet. I either knew them from high school or my childhood, and they were just a person I've know for a while, or I would meet a guy and it just wouldn't really spark with me. I would definitely try for the spark to be there, but nothing really seem to fit for me. A handful of guys would come that I would be really interesting in, but their timing, or their attitude towards life just didn't work with mine.

I soon realized that what really made me fall for a guy, was the way they would make me laugh.
I really needed to have someone make me laugh until I would have a stomach ache. Laugh until my tears strolled down my face. Laugh so good, that I could have a smile on my face no matter what life would throw at me.

And on July 17th... I got just what I wanted, butterflies and all!

Colten has always had this way of making me laugh. I can honestly say he is a big dork deep down inside, and that's what makes me love him! He is shy at times, and some people don't get so see this side I get to see. But once he lets his shield down, he is the most funniest person I know. This quality he has doesn't really make any sense to him. But to me, I am so grateful for it!
(this is why I hate when he is stressed out, I can't seem to get him to laugh, or me.)

He is also the most sweetest guy I have ever meet. He would never do anything to hurt anyone he knows. Ever. He is always looking for ways to make things better for people. And would never say anything that would hurt their feelings.

He has the biggest heart. He is one of those guys who just loves to watch cartoons just for the little animals who are the sidekicks, because he loves how nice and funny they are. He will always give a homeless guy money. always. And I just look at him and say "what are you doing?! way to support his drug addiction!" and he just says  "They need the money more than I do, no matter what they spend it on."

He never thinks of the bad. This is why I need him in my life. I am such a worry wart person. I am always thinking of the "what if's" in life. He is the one who sits me down and explains the positives of every negative that could happen.

He is also the most patient person I know....almost too patient for my liking;)
another reason why I need him in my life.

He is a lover, not a fighter. Anything with contention just doesn't work for him. This is why I think he is a golfer ;) can't handle the roughness of the other sports! Calm and Collective.

He is my better half.
He speaks the spanish.. I just look the part.(I can at least understand spanish.)
He loves mexican food.. I can't do too spicy.
I love to dance, and he..well we are working on it!
Together, we are true mexicans!
I am short, he is tall.
I'm dark, and he is light.
opposites work great together.

He is my little fashionista!
You can't find many men that know style that aren't gay right?
He doesn't always buy new clothes all the time, or dress well everyday, but he knows all the current styles and is always teaching me what certain things are. A fedora, argyle...etc. I just point and say I like something, and he will correct me and tell me what the name of it is.
WHO would of guessed, huh?

He is so pure.
He is as innocent as a child.
When I first meet him, I was impressed with the feeling I would get when I was around him. He just seemed so innocent. He was so respectful, he never said anything foul. He has taught me to be a better person. I remember coming home to my mom after a date with Colten, and just crying to her. I told her I just didn't feel worthy of him, he just seemed too good for me.
(I was even going to start slowing things down, and let him find someone better than me for him.)
She just looked at me and said, "That's when you know he is a keeper."

I am sure glad she gave me such good advice. I have thought back to her words a lot in our relationship.
This moment I had with my mom always brings me back to the reality of why I choose to keep our relationship going, and not feel intimidated with his huge spirit I know he has!

Don't get me wrong... he can also act like a child in many other ways as well.
little tantrums, not focusing on something, procrastination, not eating his veggies and fruits, and almost never cleaning up after himself, not wanting to do something and is stubborn, and I always have to have some kind of snack in my purse for him, because when he gets hungry..watch out for the attitude!

At the end of the day though, I can now say it's been EIGHT MONTHS!! eight months of the first hard year of marriage down!! There are things we don't agree with each other one, and things that I'm sure we will never understand about one another, but I can never deny what a great guy I feel in love with on July 17, 2009.

0 Waimea Bay

Every saturday we have time to have a day together. We have really tried to make our day eventful and fun. We luckily have found some really good friends that tag along with us! This past weekend we went to Waimea Bay to see what kind of beach it had to offer us. It is my favorite so far. The sand was perfect. It was like when you walked, the sand would just massage your foot every time you stepped. We also jumped off this rock that was pretty high. I felt like I was in the air forever coming down. so much fun

We also went snorkling there, again. And this time, we had a little friend come by. We were all playing in the water, when this sea turtle came up right next to Jon. It kinda scared me at first because I didn't know what it was. But soon Jon said it was a turtle, so I quickly went and grabbed my camera. Colten and I followed it for a good 10 mins, and he was so good to just swim right next to us.

Colten jumping off the rock

Hilary and Jon

Hilary and I also went to a tournament the boys played in this past week. It was at Turtle Bay so it wasn't far from us. It was hard to watch both Jon and Colten because they were in different groups, but we mostly just talked about life, and kinda lost track of what our boys were doing (woopsies)
It's such a "serious" game. It was hard to stay quiet when we were talking, and half the time we were in the bushes trying not to get hit by golf balls!
The guy in the black was playing horrible.
I felt bad for him.
He finally just walked off and quit.

notice the windy trees
And him hitting in the opposite direction of the wind.
It's a new game out here!

I couldn't get too close to take some good pictures.
The coaches from the other teams were with us following, so I felt like I would be in there way if I went any closer. lame.
Colten getting for his first tournament.

This is me getting ready to be the ward chorister!
It's my new calling. and yes. I feel SUPER awkward leading the music.
I probably always look this retarded when I'm leading.
Colten just loves it. (he better get a calling too, soon!!)
