0 sunday homemade

We get very bored on Sundays!! It's hard for me to sleep all day long, Colten loves watching golf, and I just about go crazy from boredness as he watches it. We also have sweet tooth's that need saftifiying and it always seems to hit both of us just a little bit after dinner. With my boredness, and our sweet tooth's, we decided to attempt to make Beignets. Since we didn't want to walk over to Cafe du Monde, we had to scrap from the ingredients. I told Colten to use powder sugar instead of flour, and it obviously didn't work! It sure made me laugh though. They didn't turn out to taste as good as Cafe du Monde, but they our love into them. That's good enough right?!

0 Rum House

We decided to venture out and try this restaurant here called "The Rum House". It is not the normal NOLA food, it's Caribbean, and it's so yum!! We really loved it. We orders nachos, which you could share with a whole table easily. I'm surprised we ate the whole thing (don't judge) plus three tacos. I ordered the steak taco, and I ended up eating a rib taco that Colten ordered. I just started eating once our waitress gave us our food. I didn't know what taco was who's and ended up just eating Coltens. oops. I guess he'll have to try it next time we go! It was really fun to go out after a long week of working. I always enjoy spending date nights with the most handsome guy around.

1 swamp tour

We went on a tour in a little swamp called "Honey Island". It was so much fun, and I'm so glad we were able to squeeze in the time to go! There are a lot of different tours around here, and since we aren't from here, we didn't really know which one was the best. I did some research and this was the cheapest one, and it turned out to be really awesome. We were so close to the alligators, and we had a tour guide who talked about the swamp the whole two hours. He gave us a lot of information about swamp life, the birds and trees, the houses (yes people have houses on the swamp/river) and Hurricane Katrina and how that affected things. We fed the gators hotdogs and marshmallows (they look like eggs to them)! There were tons of gators, one in every territory. Every territory is about a square mile, and they fight each other to keep their territory. There are more females because the males fight too much. figures.

I guess life is good on the swamp.

2 dark (k)night

It's been raining, raining, raining. I feel like I live in Gotham City from batman. Which is very appropriate for the time being... we are going to The Dark Knight Rises tomorrow night. I cannot wait! Bought my tickets last week. I watch batman probably every other month. I'm obsessed, and I don't really know why. I sometimes just feel like its a batman day, so I pull out The Dark Knight.

I normally love rain storms. Considering that there was a horrible hurricane here just a few years ago, I kinda get nervous that something is going happen. (Colten say's I'm always nervous no matter what) The storms here aren't as bad as they are in Hawaii. I feel like when it rains in Hawaii, the whole island is going to get swallowed by water, and that makes me nervous. (maybe Colten is right about me always being nervous). But again I say... I normally love rain storms. When I went home a few weeks ago, it rained and conquered all the fires destroying our mountains. I like THAT kind of rain storm. I use to get nervous as a kid when it rained hard in Utah, but now I know that Utah doesn't have hardcore rainstorms like I've seen in Hawaii or now here in New Orleans. I miss Utah's rainstorms, I miss that I could just sit outside and watch the rain fall and not feel threatened.

Although it's quite comical to watch all those who thought they were tough enough to brave the storm, or just the ones that got caught in the storm, outside my window. They scream, run, can't see what they are doing, and usually run right into a huge puddle or get sprayed by the puddle as cars drive by quickly. Their umbrellas are usually trying to fly away, or they are their shield protecting them from the shooting rain pellets to their faces, but don't shelter them from getting wet whatsoever.

Yesterday we went to Walmart to get some groceries, and I was amazed at how many woman fight here. I was in the produce section looking for some dried apricots and this woman came up to a girl next to me. She started yelling saying she stole her shopping cart because she left her shopping cart right where we were standing, so we stole it. The woman standing next to me told her that she had her cart since she walked in and that she didn't steal anything from her. The other woman started pointing fingers at her and cussing saying she stole her cart and she was to give it to her. I just slowly walked away. Then, I get outside, and it's pouring rain so Colten leaves to go grab the car and pull it to the front so we can load up without getting wet, and this man and woman were fighting and yelling because one stole a parking spot from the other?! seriously... who cares?! They were all up in each others faces screaming and pointing. I just stood and watched. amazed at how long they argued over a parking spot.

Where is batman when you need him?

Watching out our window.

We literally have wire on our windows. I can't open them which sometimes drive me crazy.

flooded streets.

It's going to be a rainy, watch golf kind of day.

0 a package a day...keeps the homesick away.

We got a package today!! First time I even checked our mailbox ever since we've been here. And it was full of candy!! I'm a sugarholic, and I'm not afraid to say that. I pretty much love anything sweet, chewy, and full of sugar. I'm not much of a chocolate girl, shocking I know, but lately I've been catching myself getting cravings for Skor bars and I have to go across the street to the nearest Walgreens and get my fill. super weird. I even add it in my nightly ice cream. So not good for me! We have been doing a workout called "Insanity" and it is simply just that.. Insane. It is the hardest workout I've ever done I think... or I'm just really out of shape. (some truth to that). I've heard that a lot of people have enjoyed it and have had good results, so I thought we should give it a try. Since I don't exactly have the friendliest place to take a jog out here.
Insanity routine.

new skirt, special K chips (sea salt), licorice, pistachios, swedish fish, gum, suckers, and my pillow I made at home!
It's a wonder it all fit in a little box. Thanks Mama Lamb. I really enjoyed it!

I'm taking full advantage of not working out here! I am very happy doing crafts all day, eating my suckers, and watching my cartoons. I'm a very lucky girl to have a good husband work hard for our earnings right now. I'm almost done with my online courses too! I will definitely be enjoying my time "off" in just a few short weeks:)

0 A city apartment

So we are moved in and it feels good to have a home again. I'm loving where we are staying, although the once a week late night club next door isn't so good for my beauty sleep. (only downfall) We have been living in a high rise apartment, and it is very modern. I can't express how happy I am for having everything I need in ONE place. washer, dryer, dishwasher, ...etc. so nice to have that again! I can't believe we fit everything we have in our little car driving here. And how we had to spend a whole month going from hotel to hotel and not having a fridge or a stove/oven to cook with. I realize how spoiled I am every time I move somewhere new. Utah has so much to offer me. Hawaii has so much to offer me, and I know once we leave here New Orleans will have so much to offer me! Here is a little tour of our new casa.....
